Seasons

So Matt and I have been talking so much lately about change.  Not just change in the weather, but quite literally the changing seasons in our lives.

The older I get the more I notice change.  I have this sweet little video of Andrew when he was 5, which was only 4 years ago, but it’s seriously the sweetest thing ever.  It was a day when he and Matt went to a local festival while I worked on my online degree (boy I’m glad that’s over).  He was so sweet and happy… and little… and if I could reach into my phone and kiss him I would!  He’s still precious and sweet, but he’s a boy now, not a little boy.  There’s a big difference.  For whatever reason, I watch that video at least every other day.  It makes me happy.

I don’t hate change.  In a lot of ways, I welcome it.  Jobs change, and that can definitely be better.  Houses change, which in my case is  A LOT better, and even marriages can change for the better.  Growing old with Matt is something I always knew I wanted, but living it is even better.  We go through seasons together.  We support each other in change and lift each other up.  We take change head on!  Don’t get me wrong, it’s scary at times.  I told Matt the other day I felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff.  I can either have faith, and jump, or I can turn around and walk away.  Walking away and staying with what you know is always safe, but what if you jump and make it to the other side?  What if what’s on the other side is exactly what you need, what you’ve been waiting for?  That’s where our faith kicks in.  When God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window.  That window is standing wide open for us right now, so were jumping.  If we look back in a year and say, okay, we jumped, but we had to climb back up, then that’s okay.  It’s change…for better or worse.  One thing’s for sure.  We’ll be making the climb together.

A lot has changed in our lives over the past couple years.  We’ve remodeled our home, I’ve changed careers, and now maybe our biggest change yet.  1….2….3….jump!IMG_1471
